How to Find Your Confidence in the Light of God

Some situations can make you lose your confidence: you don't know how to dress appropriately because you gain weight, you don't feel comfortable speaking in public, you are at a party with many strange people...

It's hard to be yourself when you don't feel confident.
When you are faced with challenges, it can be easy to feel as though you are all alone.

However, you can find strength in the light of God to regain your confidence. He will give you the guidance and courage you need to face any situation.

Comparison Is The Enemy Of Satisfaction

We'd all be happier and more pleased if we took this more seriously. If we paid attention to this comparison game, we'd only end up feeling empty and disappointed with ourselves.

When we remove our focus from exterior elements that lead us away from the true meaning of happiness, we can look within ourselves and find that our own light is enough for us to feel confident.

This will not be seen in comparison with someone else's story, but it will shine from the truth that sets you free.

If we can stop comparing ourselves to others and instead compare our strengths and weaknesses, there are endless possibilities of what we can do with our lives.

Elisabeth Elliot once said, “It is for us women to receive the given as Mary did, not to insist on the not-given, as Eve did. Mary received God's call on her life. Eve looked at what she wasn't given, the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and wanted it. When I compare myself to another, in a way I am wondering: Why wasn't I given that in the way that she was?”

Keep Control of Your Thoughts

2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”

The more we try to control our thoughts, the less likely we are to have a lot of trouble. Think about where your thoughts come from: God, yourself, or our enemy.

Take note of which people are putting thoughts into your head, and then treat them as such.

Do not believe everything you think. Remember that thoughts are not always facts, but thinking something over and over can make it a fact in your mind.

Choose to affirm positive thoughts because they're a lot more helpful than negative ones.

Remember that you are not alone in your struggles

2 Kings 6:15-17 tells of a time when Elisha was surrounded by enemies, yet he remained calm because God was with him. We are never alone when we put our trust in God.

God is with you, remember this to move forward and overcome your obstacles. You have all the tools you need to find your confidence.

You are not alone in your struggles.

Focus on the good that surrounds you

When we focus on the good that surrounds us, it becomes easier to find our confidence. The good that surrounds us is never gone; we only need to take the time to look and reflect on it.

Jesus reminds us, "For behold, the kingdom of God is within you" (Luke 17:21)

With this message of truth, know that God's light will always be with you and his love will never falter.

Know that you are not the only one who has felt this way before

Job 38:4-7 tells the story of creation and how God created everything. This reminds us that even if we are facing something for the first time, God has faced it before us.

We can find comfort in knowing that He is with us during these times as well.

Remember that God is always listening to you

Psalm 139:1-4 says,

“O Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord”

Take some time for reflection

In order to find our confidence, we need to take some time for reflection. This can be done through prayer, meditation, or simply spending time in nature.

When we quiet our minds and open our hearts, we can better hear the voice of God guiding us. We can also see the good that surrounds us more clearly.

When we take the time to reflect on our lives, we can find the confidence we need to move forward.

With God by our side, we can do anything. We just need to believe in ourselves and have faith.
